Selangor, Malaysia (Taken from jatengdaily.com)- Prof. Sapto P. Putro, M.Si. Ph.D, Head of the Centre of Marine Ecology and Biomonitoring for Sustainable Aquaculture (Ce-MEBSA) who is also Head of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) Diponegoro University (Undip) Semarang, became a guest lecturer at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Selangor, Malaysia on Wednesday (21/5/2025).

Prof Sapto on this occasion gave a lecture on aquaculture at the Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture UPM which was attended by dozens of 4th semester students.

The event continued with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the Chairperson of the UPM Faculty of Agriculture Aquaculture Department Prof Dr Natrah Fatin Mohd Ikhsan who also serves as Chairperson of the Algae Biota Technology and Innovation Research Center (ALBIC).

Also with the researchers from UPM were Dr Zarirah Mohamed Zulperi PhD (expert in Fish Endocrinology), Dr Fadhil Syukri (expert in Aquaculture Genetics and Breeding), and Dr Muhammad Azfar Ismail (expert in Post Harvest and Processing).

This activity is part of the World Class University (WCU) Program series, especially in an effort to increase international collaboration in the fields of education and research collaboration.

This is a follow-up to the initiation of cooperation at the previous meeting on 31 October 2024 between Prof Sapto, who in this case is the initiator of the person in charge (PIC) of cooperation and Dr Fadhil Sukri, representative of the Department of Aquaculture Faculty of Agriculture UPM on the UPM campus, Malaysia. This collaboration will be implemented in the form of research, joint publications, guest lecturers (expert lectures) and student mobility.

Prof Sapto said, Ce-MEBSA is one of Undip’s Centre of Excellence, which focuses on the management and utilization of coastal and marine areas through the development of modern aquaculture IMTA systems that promote the spirit of applying environmentally friendly technology (green technology) as well as for the use of marine resources for human welfare (blue economy).
