(Semarang, Indonesia – June 3, 2025)-Guest Lecturer from Universiti Putra Malaysia Shares Expertise with Biology Students. Diponegoro University (UNDIP), through its Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, successfully held a General Lecture on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, as part of its ongoing International Teaching Fellowship initiative. The event featured Dr. Muhammad Fadhil Syukri Ismail, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Aquaculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), who presented the topic: “Marine Aquaculture and Sustainability: Innovations in Feeding and Environmental Management.”

The lecture was attended by biology students, faculty members, and academic staff. It offered a comprehensive overview of current innovations in sustainable aquaculture, including eco-friendly feed technologies, waste management strategies, and applied marine ecological approaches. Dr. Fadhil emphasized the importance of integrating ecological knowledge with modern aquaculture practices to ensure long-term sustainability in marine food production systems.

Moderated by Rizki Sandhi Titisari, M.Si., and hosted by Rasyidah Fauzia A., M.Si., the session encouraged active dialogue through a dynamic Q&A, allowing students to engage directly with the guest speaker on real-world applications of marine ecology in tropical aquaculture settings.

“This general lecture provides our students with international exposure and deepens their understanding of sustainability issues in marine resource management,” said Prof. Drs. Sapto Purnomo Putro, M.Si., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Biology and program coordinator.

The event forms part of UNDIP’s broader World Class University (WCU) Program, which aims to elevate academic excellence through international collaboration, research engagement, and quality education aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The International Teaching Fellowship underscores UNDIP’s commitment to sustainable education, marine conservation, and international academic excellence. Plans are underway to formalize future collaborations between UNDIP and UPM, ensuring ongoing impact and shared innovation in tropical aquaculture and marine ecology.
